August 7th Neolithic grave sites Falkoping

Fairly low key day. Paid a visit to tourist information and met a wonderful young Swedish man who helped us with purchasing train tickets to Gothenburg  for tomorrow.  Should be a simple procedure but it’s not. Once he found out we were Canadians he had quite a chat with Ian about hockey and Swedish players.  Funnily enough he’s an Edmonton Oilers fan. So then we took a drive back towards Luttra and found the house that Ian’s grandfather was born in.  Ian was pretty excited.
When we got back to Falkoping Ian spent some time on the net trying to find a place for a nice dinner here.  I went out walking also trying to find a place for dinner.  There just isn’t a nice place for dinner here.  There are a few ethnic restaurants, lots of pizza places, and only one or two pubs.  But not what we consider a pub.  Very different from Britain or home.  Anyway, we went to O’Learys Irish pub last night for dinner.  Eerily quiet......okay food but a sweet waitress who is planning a four month trip to Canada, US and Australia next winter.  So we went back again tonight.  Started out very quiet again but then picked up with more customers a little later.  We got talking to a man at the table next to us.  He is from Austria.  What an interesting evening we just had.  This fellow......Franz is a teacher in Austria.  He teaches at a private school.  There are only 200 students in the school.  It is an agricultural school that teaches everything about farming and animal husbandry that a person needs to know about farming.  Including bee keeping.  Schooling includes 60% classroom studies and 40% practical work.  So this guy travels all over the world placing these students on farms to do practicums.  This guy has a dream job!  Back home in Austria he has a wife and four children.  He has a property where he raises all kinds of animals but geese are his biggest sellers.  Apparently they eat a lot of geese for special occasions there.  So it was a very interesting evening.
Tomorrow we are off by train to Gothenburg.  Friday we are booked into a place in Höllviken which makes me really happy. Back close to where we started on the south tip of Sweden.  Right on the sea. Our last three days in Sweden before we head back to Copenhagen airport to fly to Edinburgh.  Time is flying by.
