Finally........Scotland!

So our flight to Edinburgh was 45 minutes late.  That was no big deal but they had us lined up like cattle to board the flight and the plane hadn’t even arrived yet.  We stood (or some sprawled on the floor) for half an hour.  That may not sound like long but after a very long day being crowded into a line up with a bunch of people .......trust me........it was long.  And we were worried about getting to the car rental before closing.  But we did in fact make it.  When we were in Copenhagen we had just a sweetheart of a girl helping us.  Well this time we had Attila the Hun!  It was after midnight by now and she was trying to talk Ian into an upgrade to a BMW.  We would be much more comfortable, it had a bigger gas tank so we wouldn’t have to fuel up so often.  And it was only £250.00 more for fifteen days!  Anyway,  she had no idea who she was dealing with. Ian did leave her with her life to hassle the next customer though. So off we went in search of our car.  It was in the very back row at the very end of the line.  I thought that was very thoughtful of them.  After all it was dark, cold, rainy' and I’m sure the fresh air was good for us. So we pile all our crap into the “boot”,  turn on the heat and try to figure out where everything is. Next step is to set up Ian’s new GPS for Scotland.  Well, every map in the world has been downloaded onto this thing.........except somehow Scotland was missing.  Well, Ian thought no problem, we’ll sort that out in the morning.  Luckily the car comes with it’s own GPS.  So they had it programmed in German.  That caused a few swears to slip out!  So we just had to wing it.  I won’t go into all the gory details but what should have been a 45 minute trip took two hours.  We got to Leslie’s place at three in the morning.  We were so relieved.  And Leslie left us some lovely notes of welcome.  Thanks Les!
